The startup unveiled their LLM in 2023, named Dhenu 1.0 for overcoming the problems in Indian agriculture, and has a bilingual nature and processes over 3,00,000 sets of instructions. It understands English, Hindi, and also Hinglish. 

For Dhenu 1.0 they use NLP and AI solutions. Dhenu guides farmers dealing with queries, recommending them crops, helping them with crop monitoring, pest control, market intelligence, etc. 

Also the company is currently working on expanding Dhenu’s abilities and innovation, adding more local language into it and creating new AI tools for automated farming. 

9. Sarvam AI 

Sarvam AI was founded in July 2023 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. It was founded  by Vivek Raghavan and Pratyush Kumar. The company aims to develop and operate a full stack of AI generative AI solutions, that will majorly include a large scale of Indic language model and voice interfaces. 

It also develops a platform which can build generative AI apps. Apart from that their first model, named OpenHathi v.01 was also announced to launch in 2023. 

The company wants to break the language barriers, particularly for India’s diverse language space. They are also focussed on building powerful LLMs (large language model) which will be a good support for Indian languages. 

10. Krutrim AI 

Krutrim AI is the fastest AI startup to reach unicorn status. The startup was founded by Ola’s CEO Bhavish Aggarwal in December 2023. The company became a unicorn after raising $50 million in funding, naming itself as the first AI startup to reach that target so early by raising $1 billion in post valuation.

11. Jan AI 

It is being referred to as the competition of ChatGPT, led by Jasprit Bindra and Sudhir Tiwari. Their vision behind it was simple, to develop an AI model only for India, which will focus on the country’s diverse preferences, needs, and languages. 

For this they need to collaborate with government, academic institutions, and ofcourse the IT industry. The AI models need an LLM that is majorly trained on Indian data and has the ability to understand it. The model is in its developing phase.
