LaMDA and Bard are both AI models developed by Google, but they serve different purposes and have different functionalities.

Google’s LaMDA

LaMDA stands for “Language Model for Dialogue Applications” and is designed to be a factual language model. It excels at understanding and responding to factual information. LaMDA is the underlying technology that powers Google’s conversational AI, including the chatbot called Bard. 4. Chat GLM- 6B powered by Zhipu AI

When it comes to innovation, be it in the smartphone segment or AI segment China never falls behind. China has several firms that are working on LLM and one of the famous ones is Zhipu AI.

Recently, it has been all over the news for receiving massive funding from the Chinese food delivery giant- “Meituan.” This giant’s market cap is over $100 billion. 

Zhipu open-sourced its bilingual conversational AI model Chat GLM- 6B. It is trained on 6 billion parameters. You can use it either in Chinese or English.

It can carry out inferences on a single consumer-grade graphics card. And this is the highly advantageous aspect of it. How? This feature can lower the cost of running an LLM.

Its general-purpose variant i.e. GLM-130B is trained on 130 billion parameters. 

This language model potentially tapped into the Meituan’s users who roughly sum up to 450 million users. It can be an efficient ChatGPT competitor.

Apart from the ones described above, many new AI large language models are in the developing phase.

Apple Incorporation is known for its breakthrough innovations. Now, the company is looking to explore the AI segment too! As per recent reports, Apple has built its own framework called “Ajax” to create AI-based LLMs. Also, the company is creating a chatbot that can efficiently complete Chat GPT, Bing AI, and Google Bard.

(5.2) DeepMind Sparrow

It is powered by the Alphabet. Sparrow is designed to talk with a user, answer questions, and search the internet using Google. It uses reinforcement learning based on the users’ feedback. Thus, it trains the model based on the usability of the answer.

It is a service for building generative AI applications on Amazon’s Web Services (cloud computing platform). It was released in April 2023 in API format. This LLM is still in the developing phase and is yet to be generally available to the public.
